Oven baked crispy chicken legs

These delicious and moreish crispy baked chicken legs are a salute to Kernel Sanders that the entire family will love. They are a quick and easy family favourite. Serve with salad & vegetables, on the side of a bowl of soup, or as an excellent lunchbox filler.

Serves 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 45 minutes



    1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

    2. Line a baking tray with a baking sheet.

    3. In a food processor, place all dry ingredients and blitz for 20/30 seconds, scrape down sides and repeat the process if needed.

    4. Place half the spice mixture in a large zip lock bag and add the chicken drumsticks, then add the remaining spice mix.

    5. Shake the bag to coat the chicken with the spice mix.

    6. With tongs, carefully remove the drumsticks from the bag and lay them on the tray.

    7. Place in the oven for 40/45 minutes, carefully turning over halfway through.

    8. Let cool slightly, grab the serviettes, forget the cutlery and enjoy these finger-licking beauties.


I find these crispy chicken legs a winner the whole family. Toddlers and younger childrenoften love the independence of a hand-held food item, serve them buffet style and let them try use the tongs to put on their plate. As for older kids this is a wonderful recipe to get them in the kitchen to help with or even cook on their own with supervision.
